The Virginia Department of Health has appointed Dr. David C. Rose as its director, effective November 1. Rose succeeds the leadership of Dr Anne Gaddy, who has served as Interim Director since April 2021 following the announcement of the previous Director, Dr Stephen Haering. his retirement. Gaddy will return to his post as Deputy Director of Health.
“Dr Gaddy’s capable leadership as Interim Director has been critical to Alexandria’s ability to respond quickly and with agility to the COVID-19 pandemic in our community,” City Manager Mark Jinks said in a statement. . “She has excelled in all aspects of this role, particularly taking responsibility for the planning, organization and administration of the Alexandria immunization processes.

Rose comes to Alexandria from the Maryland Department of Social Services, where he was the Medical Director of Child Welfare. He has held other leadership positions in public health, including deputy head of public health at the Anne Arundel County Department of Health, senior deputy director of primary care administration and prevention at the department. of DC Health and Deputy Commissioner for Communicable Diseases and Epidemiology. at the City of Baltimore Health Department.
