Marshfield Clinic Health System: community behavioral health conference to help children cope with death

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Clinic Health System will host the 2022 Community Behavioral Health Conference on “How to Help Children of Different Ages Understand and Cope with Death and Dying,” led by Psychologist retired pediatrician, Dr. Michael D. Miller.

Whether it’s a family member, friend or even a pet, it’s important for children of all ages to understand and adapt to death and dying. Miller will provide advice on when, what and how to talk to your children about death and dying. It will also discuss age and how to prepare children to visit someone near death, and when they should attend activities such as a wake, funeral and funeral services. Miller’s goal is to share information about how you can help your children and family emotionally recover from this potentially traumatic event.

An on-site presentation will not take place this year. Instead, people can participate by registering for the free event before April 22. Attendees will then receive a link to Dr. Miller’s presentation which they can view from April 28 to July 31.

Register online at (use Google Chrome), call 715-387-9081 and leave your name, phone number and email address, or email [email protected]

This conference is made possible by the generous supporters of Mike’s Run, a 5-mile run and 2-mile walk that promotes mental health awareness. The 2022 Mike’s Run will take place June 18 at the Steve J. Miller Center in Marshfield. For more information, visit
