Hospitals and health agencies among Phoenix area employers at career fairs

The holidays are fast approaching. For Arizona residents looking for a job, a new job could be the gift that continues to come.

Dozens of large employers hope to hire staff at job fairs and other recruiting events in the coming weeks. Here are some important announcements:

Help for services to the person sought

A range of full-time and part-time jobs will be available at a hiring event on November 20 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Human Services Campus at 1214 W. Madison St. near downtown Phoenix.

Six partner agencies on the 13-acre campus, which provides services to the homeless, will participate. Appointments are not necessary.

“The positions are very diverse, from administrative positions to crisis intervention specialists, both in contact with clients and behind the scenes on campus,” said Brent Downs, executive director of St. Joseph the Worker, which hosts the event.

Sky Harbor jobs available

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport hosts a career fair for employers operating at the airport. The November 16 event will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will be held at the Phoenix Skytrain Station at 44th Street and Washington Street. Face covers are mandatory.

The career fair will feature hundreds of available positions including cooks, baristas, cashiers, dishwashers, drivers, salespeople, customer service representatives, receptionists and managers. Benefits vary, but can include insurance and retirement plans, paid time off, discounts, parking passes, and various bonuses.

Employers expected to participate include Ace Parking Services, Allied Universal Security, the Arizona Lottery, Bio Janitorial Services, Cam Concessions, Casa Unlimited, Covenant Aviation Security, Freedom Park Valet Services, Flagship Facility Services, Hertz, HMS Host, InMotion Entertainment, IPSA Security Services, Kind Hospitality, MAG USA Escape Lounge, Paradies Lagardère, SSP America and Stellar.

Big East Valley Career Fair is scheduled

Thousands of local jobs will be up for grabs on November 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the East Valley Job Fair. The event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Mesa hotel, 1011 W. Holmes Ave. at Mesa.

Wednesdays without an appointment are welcome

Abrazo Health conducts walk-in interviews every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Dec. 22 at hospitals in the Phoenix metro area. No appointment is necessary.

Abrazo interviews nurses, surgical technicians, transporters and patient care associates. In addition, positions are available in the fields of imaging, laboratories, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation services and housekeeping. The company currently has around 400 openings.

Wednesday hiring events are for Abrazo Arrowhead Campus / Surprise Hospital, Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, Abrazo Central Campus / Mesa Hospital, Abrazo Scottsdale Campus / Cave Creek Hospital and Campus Abrazo West.

Hire now for tax season

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service plans to fill up to 100 positions in the Phoenix metro area and 25,000 nationally, in preparation for the upcoming tax filing season. The company will be holding hiring events the week of December 6.

Full-time and part-time positions are available in tax preparation, customer support, and customer service. Jackson Hewitt offers a variety of income tax courses for prospective tax preparers. It also provides career opportunities for registered agents and other experienced tax professionals.
