Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers has named Dennis Worsham as the first director of the Snohomish County Health Department.
The Snohomish Health District is being integrated into the Snohomish County government and on January 1, 2023 the new Snohomish County Health Department will be launched.
Worsham spent time early in his career at Snohomish Health District. He has over 29 years of government public health experience in Washington State and has been an innovative leader in public health at the local, regional and state levels. His most recent job was as Acting Director of Public Health – Seattle and King County.
“Dennis is the leader Snohomish County needs to expand direct service, strengthen public health and prepare us for the next public health challenge,” Somers said. “I look forward to his innovative leadership as we face the public health and environmental challenges of the coming years. I would also like to thank Shawn Frederick for his exceptional service to the Snohomish Health District. He has been a great and trusted partner, and I wish him the best.
Fredericks announced in July that he would step down at the end of his third full year leading the Snohomish Health District as a trustee.
“Returning to Snohomish County has always been a goal of mine, and I am thrilled to join in at this critical moment of change,” Worsham said. “I know the professionals who will be working for the Snohomish County Health Department have an excellent reputation, and I plan to do everything I can to support their important work that saves lives and keeps people healthy. “
