Barwon Health: Community vaccination center opens to people over 50

The global pandemic is far from over, but we are very fortunate in Australia and Victoria that things are under control and well managed. We have great freedoms that we want to protect, which means we all need to take action to stay healthy.

On Monday, May 3, the Barwon Health Community Vaccination Center in Norlane will open its doors to all members of the community over the age of 50.

Ford’s former home in Norlane has grown from the hub of Australia’s auto industry to a COVID-19 vaccination center that will serve the majority of the Geelong and Surf Coast region.

Managed and operated by Barwon Health, the Geelong Community Vaccination Center has the capacity to provide vaccines to more than 10,000 people per week.

GPs in the region also play an important role in the deployment process, and Barwon Health works alongside the Primary Health Network as it coordinates this part of the immunization program.

COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and free and Barwon Health encourages everyone to take the opportunity to protect themselves, their loved ones and the community.

Vaccination reservations are now available at the Community Vaccination Hub (on the old Ford site) for people over 50.

To reserve, call 1 800 675 398 or go to barwonhealth.org.au/coronavirus/covid19-vaccine
